Credit card delivery delay won't cost consumers

8 December 2006

An unexpected rise in demand has caused Norwich and Peterborough BS to admit to customers that although their credit card application has been accepted, they will not receive a card for up to three weeks.

The good news is that the lender has agreed to extend its interest-free balance transfer period so that its customers aren't left short-changed.

Norwich and Peterborough BS's card has proved to be incredibly popular due to the fact that it is one of only three lenders that does not charge a balance transfer fee on a 0% deal, with the other two being Sainsbury's bank and Britannia.

Customers were therefore understandably upset when they were sent a letter informing them that although the interest-free period started when their account was set up, they will be unable to transfer a balance until they receive their card.

However, Norwich and Peterborough BS realised that many of their customers were unhappy with the arrangement and has since promised them an additional period of interest-free balance transfers.

A spokesman told the Daily Mail: "We have been caught out by the huge demand that there has been for this card and can only apologise for the delay.

"Those that want to transfer a balance can rest assured that their interest-free period will start from the moment they get their card and not before," he added.
