A report has revealed that some credit card providers are forcing their customers to incur late payment fees by delaying the sending out of their bills.
This is being seen as yet another way of the credit card providers attempting to claw back the money they have lost since the Office of Fair Trading clamped down on unfair fees.
Unfortunately, any provider who is using this tactic will be hard to clamp down on as there are too many variables which could explain why the bills are arriving late.
Published on the UK Credit Card Guide, the authors of the report explained: "It is easy for the company to put in your statement that it was sent off on the 14th but in fact they may not actually send it off while the 27th when your bill is due on the 28th of the month.
"This would mean that your payment was late and therefore cause you a charge and you would blame the postman for bringing it late."
To avoid these unscrupulous charges, the reports authors suggest either applying to pay your credit card bills online or to switch to another provider.
