Nationwide announces changes to credit cards

9 March 2007

Nationwide credit card customers can expect changes to the introductory pricing on its Gold and Classic credit cards from this week.

Both cards will now offer 0% on balance transfers for a ten-month period with a 2.5% fee, as well as 0% on purchases for three months.

Executive Director Steve Bernau said that the Nationwide's credit card changes follow "significant shifts in the market over the past year and ensures we continue to offer customers a competitive credit card product that meets their needs".

He added that the new rates were part of a bigger financial product shake-up which saw a new five-year fixed-rate mortgage for loyal members and a new range of guarantees on savings products.

Other perks of the credit cards are a free 12-month extended warranty on selected purchases, 100 days free purchase protection against loss, theft or damage on most purchases over £50, up to 56 days interest free credit and no annual fee.
