One of the largest UK high street banks is to roll out a telephone warning service for credit card customers following the success of several pilot schemes held around the UK.
Lloyds TSB is set to introduce its automated telephone service which warns credit card customers if it believes suspicious transactions are taking place.
Following its success with credit card customers - first trialled in 2005 - the First Alert system is now ready to be rolled out to all debit card customers as well.
Designed to work alongside Lloyds TSB's fraud detection systems, the service automatically calls customers, whenever and wherever card fraud is suspected on their account.
Gerrard Schmid, Director of Transaction Banking at Lloyds TSB, said: "First Alert will enable us to spot fraud more quickly so we can put things right for customers faster than ever before. The system proved a huge success on credit cards and by extending it to our debit card customers we're planning to crack down further on card fraud.
"We're constantly developing and launching new technologies to fight fraud on every front, and the expansion of our First Alert system to debit cards, will be a real asset."
