Women's mood for spending in the current economic climate has been hit more than men's, according to Legal & General's MoneyMood Survey.
Since the same survey last month, 18 percentage points have been knocked off on the side of women, the firm stated.
Moreover, the trend for spending changes between different demographics, it claimed, as 25% of those in the 18 to24-year-old age bracket want to spend their cash, possibly on credit cards.
In comparison, 17% of people aged 45 to 54 noted that this was the case with them.
Wealth Management Head of Marketing at Legal & General Julia Clayworth asserted that the economic situation is not having "universal" impact.
"Although it is good to see people are exercising caution with their spending, they are not changing their behaviour dramatically. It will be really interesting to see next month's results," she commented.
A recent survey from GfK NOP has said that consumer confidence has hit a low not seen for 13 years.
