Egg is set to continue with plans to cancel customers' accounts despite opposition from one MP, it has been revealed.
The service provider announced recently that it was going to terminate the contracts of two million credit card customers because they are a large risk, reports Credit Cards GB.
But many consumers followed up this and said that they have a strong credit history and failed to understand the move.
Nigel Griffiths, the Labour MP for Edinburgh South, has now stepped forward and remarked that he will be fighting the move to see if it is being carried out because the outfit is not making money from those in question.
"Egg's job now is to prove it has an honest intention in this. It made a mistake, we need an apology and compensation for wasted credit agency checks," he commented.
But after a meeting with the politician, Egg stated that it will stand by its initial claims and that the "probability" of risk in the future is prevalent even if payments have been maintained.
The firm was established in 1998 and says that it now offers a number of services such as insurance and savings.
