People in debt in the Salisbury region have stated that they are fearful of losing their homes and encounters with bailiffs, it has been claimed.
Christians Against Poverty revealed that 71% of these individuals are scared they will lose possessions and in many cases do not want to leave the house, reports the Salisbury Journal.
Andy Eyre, Centre Manager for the organisation, told the news source that they sometimes leave it very late to attempt to get advice, something that minimised the chance of help.
He commented: "We cannot explain the relief we see on clients' faces when they realise that their problems are not too big to overcome and we aim to offer hope to those in desperation."
Those who contact the group have often tried every other channel to deal with their situation, he suggested, but it can be considered "a last resort".
In Wales, the Insolvency Service recently announced that bankruptcies have grown due in part to credit card bills, News Wales reported.
