Customer service could be improved at one bank after it said that it was going to upgrade its ATM machines.

Nationwide Building Society has confirmed that fresh software will be implemented in 2,650 ATMs and will link a number of terminals together, reports Computing Magazine.

Transactions possible under the new solutions will be cash dispensing, along with complex intelligent deposits.

Head of Business Logistics Chris Shott claimed that the changes will allow consumers to benefit in numerous ways, something that may interest those with credit cards.

"The software will enable us to simplify our ATM management structure whilst providing a significantly better service to our members going forward," he told the publication.

He added that the company has "ambitious" plans for its network and that speed of service will be enhanced with the changes.

Aptra Advance NDC is the software taken on by Nationwide, which is provided by NCR.

Nationwide says it is committed to helping the communities it works in.
