Consumers in one area of Derbyshire have been warned by police that criminals are attempting to steal their credit cards. Officers noted that people in the Dales area ought to be vigilant because of the instance of a pensioner being targeted, reports the Matlock Mercury. The attempted theft took place in Boughton last week when a lady was asked by two males and a female if she had any change. The instigators promptly removed her card when she was off guard. "If it wasn't for the vigilance of one of the shop assistants we'd have had a theft," a spokeswoman for the force remarked to the news source. All of the perpetrators were either in their late-30s or early 40s, onlookers noted. They are believed to hail from the east European region. In related news, consumers in the US have been hit by thieves who looked to take pin codes from cash machines, reports the Times.
