A politician has explained how he lost £3,500 after becoming the victim of credit card fraud. MP for Pendle Gordon Prentice said that he was hit by skimming equipment, which can pilfer personal card details and use them for rogue purposes, reports the Lancashire Telegraph. He suggested that while his bank gave him the money back, he is unsure how far the investigation into the episode has gone. And Mr Prentice argued that new methods should be in place so that people are more aware of the result of such investigations. "I would like banks to be more open about the whole process because by not releasing this information it gives people more scope to defraud the system," he told the paper. He said that it is "frustrating" he does not know where the incident occurred and that if he knew more than similar episodes may be prevented. Earlier this week, thieves attempted to take a cashpoint attached to a wall in a Plymouth supermarket.
