Nationwide judged most responsible credit card lender

18 February 2009

For the second year in a row, Nationwide has been judged to be the most responsible credit card lender in the UK.

The building society picked up the accolade at the annual Cards Awards at London's Battersea Evolution.

Nationwide was praised for its overall approach to credit card lending, as well as the measures it has taken to promote responsible lending to customers.

For example, it launched its Trust Us, Trust You campaign last year to highlight the importance of working with lenders to ensure that what is borrowed can be comfortably repaid.

Commenting on the achievement, Louise Bond, personal finance manager at uSwitch.com, said it was a great result for Nationwide.

"In uSwitch's Customer Satisfaction Review in 2008 for credit cards, Nationwide won two categories for Product Information and Interest Rate Charges and was runner-up in four categories including best overall customer satisfaction," she added.
