Sun-seekers still searching for best deals, research shows

People are still heading off on holiday despite the struggling sterling, it is claimed. Research from Sainsbury's Bank shows consumers are making the most of last minute deals in search of some sun this spring.

"People should definitely not leave organising their travel money until they get to the airport, as it can be up to 10% more expensive," says Sam Marrs, Head of Sainsbury's Travel Money.

Holidaymakers need to make sure their credit card provider gives them the best price on transactions when abroad and therefore need to search for the best deals. Compare prices online now for the best credit card.

Britons are realising that, in order to get the most out of their currency, they need to exchange more, Sainsbury's reveals, with the bank seeing a 36% increase in the total value of currency transactions.

According to a report by the Association of British Travel Agents, 66% of people claim they get an emotional high from a summer holiday.
