Not being charged for European transactions is one of the popular features of the Saga platinum card, it has been revealed.
Paul Green, Head of Communications at Saga, says it is often an unpleasant experience for people to return from holiday to find their credit card bill is sky-high.
"Some credit card companies charge up to 2.75 per cent for using your card abroad and that's just not on," he claims.
Mr Green says Saga was conscious to include the feature in its credit card when it was revised last year, with customers appreciating the perk.
The expert believes the charges people incur when abroad are often "significant" to customers.
In June 2008, the NS&I Quarterly Savings Survey found that 61% of British holidaymakers admit to overspending while they are away on holiday.
Furthermore, 40% are not always aware of the exchange rate when abroad. Compare credit cards online now to find the best deal for you.
