Abbey credit cards has re-branded as Santander and will not be charging for foreign usage during June and July.
Santander offers two ranges of credit card - Santander Zero and Santander Credit Card, with the new no fee foreign usage offer coinciding with the start of the school summer holidays.
The decision has been welcomed by uSwitch.com Personal Finance Expert Rumina Hassam, who claims that many credit cards currently available will put holidaymakers under pressure this summer.
She said: "Hikes in overseas usage fees coupled with crippling exchange rates ... has meant that holidaymakers will be feeling the pinch this year.
"Santander's special summer offer is a great incentive for existing customers looking to get away from the recessionary gloom but they need to be mindful that this offer is for a limited period only."
Meanwhile, consumers were recently advised by Consumer Credit Conselling Service Spokesperson Tom Howard that switching banks may be advisable to avoid excessive charges.
