Barclays bank has made opening a current account even easier for consumers by launching a new online application process.
The company said that a typical application took around ten minutes using the system.
Julian Brewer, head of online marketing at the bank, said: "The improvement of our online facilities demonstrates Barclays determination to give customers an efficient service when applying for our value for money products. Our online current account service now has 30% less questions to answer.
"We believe this shows we are serious about offering consumers the best products and service," he added.
The whole process is conducted online, so there is no need to send valuable documents through the post.
Disabled customers are also encouraged to use the online application, as it meets official accessibility standards and is compatible with speech browsers. Customers are also asked if they require any correspondence in an alternative format such as Braille or large print.
