More people are going online to deal with their finances, according to a new survey.
There has been a 63% increase in the number of people dealing with their current accounts online since 2003. Those who do head online for their banking see the benefits, with 78% saying that they now do most or all of their banking on the internet, according to Alliance & Leicester (A&L).
Seven out of ten found online statements easier to manage than paper ones. With 10% of people putting themselves at risk of fraud by not destroying paper statements properly, online banking has the added advantage of security.
Helen Palmer, manager of current accounts at A&L, said: "With our busy lifestyles, internet banking is more convenient for many people than traditional branch banking.
"Banking online allows customers to address payments and bills without having to deal with reams of paper. Alliance & Leicester customers now also benefit from new internet security measures ensuring peace of mind and the utmost security when banking online."
