The country's cash machine operator is predicting that the past bank holiday will have produced the busiest day ever for the UK's cash points.
Link made the prediction after the previous record was set during the last bank holiday weekend, four weeks ago.
On the Friday before that weekend, 19.5 million transactions were carried out during the day, totalling a withdrawal of £726.7 million from current accounts.
The company is now expecting the figures from the latest bank holiday Friday to beat that record.
Graham Mott, a Link spokesman, said that a new display policy meant that customers were now clearer about which machines charge for withdrawals, making more people confident of using cash points.
"It is also the last Friday of the month and a bank holiday weekend, so people will be stocking up on cash to last them through the extra day," he added.
