Students graduating this year and heading for the world of work are being offered a helping hand with a new bank account.
The Royal Bank of Scotland is offering graduates a three-year account which features up to a £2,000 interest free overdraft facility, or the option of an interest free loan of the same value.
It is hoped the features will help ease the newly qualified cohort into working life.
"Our Graduate Royalties account has really useable benefits and graduates can start reaping the discounts on offer as soon as their account is open," said Paul Jeffrey, head of royal bank graduate banking.
"We realise that graduates may feel under financial pressure after leaving university, so to assist in easing that pressure, we have a great team of advisers on hand in our branches to talk to graduates about any concerns that they may have and help the financial transition from studying to finding employment, run as smoothly as possible," he added.
Overdraft offers aimed at students and recent graduates were recently criticised by a price comparison and switching website.
Over six million people within the 18 to 29 age group have an overdraft facility and uSwitch.com has warned that they are being encouraged to think of the facility as "free money", due to initial interest-free overdraft offers.
