Halifax rewards switchers with £100 bonus

18 June 2007

Consumers who are unhappy with their current account should consider looking at the new offers from Halifax which could boost their balances by over £58 per year.

The High Interest Current Account from Halifax offers a 6% credit interest, compared to Lloyds TSB's 4.17% and the 0.10% offered by Barclays, HSBC, NatWest and the Royal Bank of Scotland.

In addition, those who switch before August 11th, 2007 will receive an additional £100 in their account as a thank you, along with another £25 for those who also take out the Halifax One Card.

There are several stipulations that consumers should be aware of however, including the fact that they must put a minimum of £1,000 into the account each month. Switching Direct Debits and other standing orders over from consumers' old accounts must only be done by the Halifax switching team and the switching must be completed by August 25th, 2007.

In addition, several accounts are not included in the £100 deal, including all joint accounts and student accounts. New customers opening a joint account with an existing sole account holder will also not qualify for the bonus.
