Yorkshire Bank helps uni students manage cash and social lives

8 August 2007

With A-level results looming and thoughts turning to starting or returning to university, Yorkshire Bank has launched a new student account in time for the new academic year.

The 2007 student package offers undergraduates all the normal services of a current account with an added £1,000 overdraft facility as well as an interest rate of 3.3% on credit balances.

Students who opt for the account can also take advantage of two for one cinema tickets for Vue for a whole year as well as Ticketmaster vouchers with a value of £100 to be used at gigs, festivals, theatrical and sports events, for those who sign up to the deal early.

Gary Lumby, Head of Retail, Yorkshire Bank, said: "Today's students are faced with increased pressure to manage their money well, but amazingly many are currently missing out by not opening a student-specific account when they start their studies.

"Our new package is designed to help students enjoy university life, instead of spending their time worrying about finances," he added.

Students can also receive special travel discounts with Apollo Travel Direct's holiday line -- perfect for when the homesickness kicks in.
