Those moving abroad could benefit from keeping hold of a bank account in the UK, it has been claimed this week.
Shelter Offshore noted that one of the reasons behind this is keeping a credit history in Britain, something that could be use if expatriates return to home shores.
Moreover, people retaining homes in the UK could see that matters are made easier through the option of making payments to bank accounts in Britain, the organisation noted.
Director of Shelter Offshore Rhiannon Davies remarked that transactions made via UK banks are helpful if pounds sterling are used, possibly via current accounts.
She commented: "If you inform your bank of your change of residency status, the vast majority will allow you to leave your account as it is rather than having to change it for an international account for example."
A recent study carried out by NatWest, its International Personal Banking Expat Wealth Banking Survey, found that Brits believed their salaries would rise by 43% abroad.
