Barclays current account customers may be interested to hear that the bank is to open a new branch at London's Piccadilly Circus. The three-storey building formerly occupied by Burger King will be transformed into a flagship branch featuring the latest banking technology. Scheduled to open at the end of the year, the branch will include self-service zones, queue-minimising technology and open counters without glass partitions. It follows the opening of a flagship branch in Manchester and is part of a wider programme to create 50 flagship branches across the UK. Erin Biertzer, Distribution Services Director for Barclays, said: "Barclays at Piccadilly is going to really break the mould and it is very exciting." As well as current accounts, Barclays offers a range of financial products and service to its customers, including credit cards, personal loans and mortgages. It has 2,014 branches across the UK and 41,500 staff. Some 11.3 million current accounts are held with the bank.
