A new mobile money transfer service has been launched by NatWest that allows its Polish current account holders to send money home via their mobile phones. Payments will be commission-free and the system will enable customers to transfer funds from their Polish Welcome Account to PKO BP accounts in Poland. It is the first such system to be launched by a UK bank and NatWest said it hopes to extend the service to other countries in the future. Roy Vella, Group Director of Mobile at NatWest, said: "Mobile phone banking is the fastest growing banking channel in the world and NatWest is committed to being at the forefront of this exciting phenomenon." He said research carried out by the bank shows that Polish workers living in the UK send home around £1 billion a year to their families. Separate research by the Future Foundation and mobile money specialist Monitise reveals that over one million people in the UK have adopted some form of mobile phone banking.
