Online bankers 'should remain vigilant'

16 June 2009

Online banking customers need to ensure they stay extra vigilant when completing transactions online, one expert has advised.

Garreth Griffith, Head of Risk Management at PayPal UK, said people should make sure they do not leave themselves exposed to fraudsters or scammers.

"Consumers everywhere can stay one step ahead and better protect themselves online by just following a few simple tips," he continued.

Mr Griffith also emphasised the need to get information from initiatives such as Get Safe Online, which stress the important ways in which people can lessen the risk of being targeted.

PayPal supports 19 currencies and operates local websites in 18 countries across the world, with its headquarters located in San Jose California. Its rate of loss due to fraud stands at -0.28%, which equates to around a third of 1%.
