The Co-operative Bank has launched a new current account deal which allows customers to pick 'n' mix the benefits offered to suit their individual needs. The Privilege and Privilege Premier current accounts come with a range of standard benefits that could help customers save around £700 a year, the bank claims. These include comprehensive worldwide family travel insurance, mobile phone insurance and enhanced banking features. As well as this, customers can choose from one of three enhanced benefits packages. The gadget package offers insurance cover for mp3 players, laptops and other consumer electronics devices, while the safeguard package provides cover against ID theft. Option three is a traveller package, which includes free airport lounge passes and a passport and luggage recovery service. Dick Parkhouse, Managing Director of Retail at the Co-operative Bank, said: "Our new offering moves current accounts onto a new level by allowing consumers to tailor benefits to their lifestyle." Earlier this month, the Times reported that the Co-operative Bank had seen a 50% increase in the number of consumers taking out current accounts in the first half of this year.
