Lloyds TSB is offering new mobile banking services for its current account customers, allowing them to make transfers from their handsets. Users will be able to transfer money from one account to another as well as view their balances and their most recent transactions. They will also receive a range of text message alerts notifying them when their balance is low or if their debit card is used to withdraw cash or make a purchase abroad. Catherine McGrath, Director of Current Accounts at Lloyds TSB, said: "Just as internet banking has taken the country by storm over the past decade, mobile banking is now set to change the way we mange our money." She cited research conducted by ICM online in July 2008 which found that 74% of current account customers use internet banking to keep on top of their money. Meanwhile, Sky News reports that security experts are warning online banking users to be vigilant when it comes to identify theft and never to divulge passwords and other sensitive information.
