Technology experts and analysts within Britain's digital TV industry are considering how to respond to the recent launch of the first free European television service for 3G customers.
Luxembourg-based operation Tango TV is the new station being made available from Swedish phone operator Tele2 AB.
The launch of the television service was hastened to beat competition from Nokia who earlier this month confirmed it was trialling a similar service in Helsinki.
Lars-Johan Jarnheimer, chief executive at Tele2 AB, said the development of the service in Luxembourg would help the company "to learn more about customer behaviour, which we can apply later to our other mobile markets".
Tele2 AB hopes to market its pioneering TV service to its 28 million existing customers, located in 24 different countries across Europe.
