Ofcom has today revealed that the digital television household penetration in the UK is now just under the 60 per cent mark.
The findings were disclosed as the independent communications regulator today published its Digital Television Update for the fourth quarter of 2004.
A total of 59.4 per cent of UK households were receiving digital transmission by December 31st last year, a figure up 3.5 percentage points from 55.9 per cent on September 30th 2004.
Furthermore, the total number of digital television households was up by 6.6 per cent during this period, from 914,980 to 14,773,881.
The number of Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) only households at the end of December 2004 is also shown to have risen to 4,592,920, representing an increase of 678,000, from 3,914,920.
