Cable and Wireless, which returned to the residential broadband market last year through the acquisition of Bulldog, has revealed plans to upgrade its UK broadband network at a cost of £190 million.
Furthermore, the company has long term plans to expand the Bulldog broadband service to over half the UK population, a move which would make the company the largest national competitor to BT.
Chief executive Francesco Caio said: "After a period of intense focus on fixing the legacy issues, we are now moving out attention to building our competitive position in the UK."
Acquired for £18.6 million a year ago, Bulldog is involved in local loop unbundling which allows the company to take control of essential copper telephone lines allowing the company to design its own services.
