Members of the public keen to get into volunteering will be able to use their digital TVs to search for positions in their region.
James Murdoch, chief executive of BSkyB, has launched the new Media Trust service as part of the Year of the Volunteer 2005 initiative, according to the Scotsman newspaper.
Through the new service, viewers of the Community Channel will be able to search through volunteering jobs, as well as being able to make donations to a list of charities, simply by pressing the red button on their remote controls.
Mr Murdoch said: "It's amazing to see how interactive television can be used to help people to get involved in their communities."
"I'm very proud that Sky has been able to support and develop this service with the Community Channel and hope that thousands of people will volunteer as a result."
