New figures released by Ofcom have shown that digital TV penetration in the UK has risen.
It is estimated that by March 31, digital penetration had risen to 61.9 per cent of UK households, an increase of 2.5 per cent points, compared to the previous quarter.
By this point, the total number of households in the UK to have the technology had risen by 643,517 to 15,417,398. Of this, BSkyB now represents 7,349,000, while Freeview rose to around 5,059,350.
This represents strong growth for Freeview of 466,430.
The last quarter also saw a rise in digital cable by just over 30,000, meaning it represents just over 2.5 million of the total number of homes using digital TV.
