UK media watchdog Ofcom has announced proposals for commercial TV licence fees, in anticipation of the growing popularity of digital television.
Under the proposals, ITV and other commercial TV firms will have the licence fee they have to pay reduced.
ITV's annual licence fee will be cut to under £80 million for this year, compared to the £215 million paid in 2004.
The cuts follow a review into licence fees, which acknowledged that analogue providers are going to increasingly experience a decrease in commercial value of their services, as digital TV grows in popularity.
"Under 40% of UK householders (are) relying solely on analogue for their television viewing," said the regulator in a statement.
Licensees have until July 25 to accept the proposed reductions.
