Over two million households in the UK are now taking advantage of on-demand TV services from digital television provider, Telewest.
The service allows viewers to pick and choose what they watch, when they want to watch it and should be just the start of a wider adoption of new on-demand services.
More than 500 films are available at the touch of a button, with thousands of music videos and hundreds of television shows also available to be viewed at any time.
There have been nearly 36 million viewings using the service to date, the company said.
Philip Snalune, managing director of consumer products at ntl:Telewest, said: "As lifestyles change TV viewing habits are also changing. ntl On Demand and Teleport provide choice, value and ease of use, giving viewers control and freedom over what to watch.
"By making premium shows available, we are making the service more compelling and attracting a bigger audience. We plan to continue expanding the choice of programmes offered as we believe this really is the future of television."
