Cable & Wireless customers are soon to benefit from a new TV service delivered over a broadband connection.
Thanks to a deal with Inuk Networks, viewers will now get the chance to take advantage of combined television, telephony and broadband offer for the first time.
Freewire, essentially like Freeview, will be delivered via broadband to millions of customers nationwide.
In a 70 million deal over five years, Inuk will now have access to the Cable & Wireless multicast enabled network.
The BT network is not in a position to provide such services for a few more years, which has allowed third party providers using local loop unbundling to take advantage of this gap in the market.
"Cable & Wireless has the unique capability to offer an all-national wholesale multicast platform, so for us, the deal was a no-brainer," Marcus Liassides, Chief Executive of Inuk Networks said.
Jim Marsh, Chief Executive of Cable & Wireless Europe, Asia and the United States, added: "I'm delighted that we've been able to create the UK's most compelling IPTV platform for Inuk.
"We will concentrate on providing an excellent customer service to Inuk and our other wholesale broadband customers - while they focus on delivering a range of triple-play services to our collective consumers."
Inuk Networks first came into the limelight after launching its services through the JANET joint academic network, through which up to 40 universities now offer triple play TV to 100,000 students nationwide.
