Despite just three months remaining until the first TV region switches over from analogue to digital TV, recent research indicates that seven in ten do not know when their region will be switched.
Research carried out by the free online comparison and switching service uSwitch.com, has found that only one in five adults are aware of the ways in which they can receive digital TV, with one in ten mistakenly thinking they will need to replace their TVs.
Steve Weller, Head of Communication Services at uSwitch.com, comments: "The switch to digital is great news for viewers, bringing improved picture quality and a greater programme choice, so it is worrying to see that consumers are still baffled as to when it will happen and how they should prepare for it.
"It's also disappointing that despite campaigns to educate the nation about the switchover, led by Digital UK, over half the population do not feel that enough is being done to keep them informed.
Mr Weller advises consumers to first check when digital television is set to be introduced to their area, and then visit either uSwitch.com or digitaltelevision.gov.uk to find out how they can begin receiving digital TV.
