The UK's switchover to digital TV is showing signs of success, with the technology now installed in 85% of homes across the UK, latest figures show.
According to figures from Ofcom the total number of multichannel homes in the UK now stands at 21.4 million, up 13% since last year.
The communications regulator's Digital Television Progress Report for April to June comes ahead of the official switchover from analogue to digital starting in Whitehaven in Cumbria in October.
"More than four in five UK households are now enjoying the benefits of digital television," Chief Executive Ed Richards said.
"It's extremely encouraging that we are continuing to see the market grow strongly with less than a month until Whitehaven becomes the first place to fully switch to digital television."
Nearly two million Freeview boxes were sold in the second quarter of this year, with digital terrestrial used in 9.1 million homes and satellite now present in nine million households.
