Customers of BSkyB's satellite digital TV services are increasing, thanks to the continuing popularity of the Sky+ personal video recorder.
The firm said yesterday that 434,000 sales in the fourth quarter of 2007 had driven Sky+ uptake past 3.1 million households in the UK.
Overall pay-TV customers retained by BSkyB now number 8.8 million.
With the digital TV switchover ongoing, increased sales for digital satellite services, along with Freeview boxes, are anticipated.
"We have made good progress during the quarter," commented Chief Executive Jeremy Darroch.
"Our focus on value and quality has delivered a strong level of new customer additions."
Overall BSkyB operating profits, however, took a knock due to last month's court decision which ruled that they must reduce their 17% stake in rival broadcaster ITV by half.
The £112 million deficit announced by the firm represents BSkyB's first loss for six years.
