Just one in every ten people are unaware that the analogue television signal will be switched off to prepare for digital TV, according to a new report.
The survey from Digital UK and Ofcom found that 89% of those polled are aware of the switchover, which began last year in Whitehaven, Cumbria.
Chief Executive of Digital UK David Scott claimed that more people are beginning to come to terms with the prospect of no traditional signal.
"This latest research is further evidence that viewers across the UK are embracing and enjoying digital TV. More than three-quarters of the UK's 60 million television sets are now ready for digital broadcasts," he remarked.
Mr Scott added that, despite this optimism, greater awareness needs to be raised concerning the dates of the changes in each region and factors such as video recorder conversion.
Viewers in Whitehaven now need to use Freeview, satellite or broadband services to continue to get a picture.
