Consumers 'unhappy' with digital

Some digital TV customers remain unsatisfied with the services they are being offered, according to a new study.

With a total of £4.2 billion spent on digital solutions, a quarter of consumers remain unfulfilled by the new form of communication, uSwitch.com said.

But those polled did consider that Freeview gave good value for their cash, while Sky topped that satisfaction list (76%).

Communications Expert at uSwitch.com Steve Weller remarked that competition in the digital market place is hotting up.

"The availability of 'free' services has received a boost with the launch of freesat, a joint initiative from the BBC and ITV that promises high definition programmes without the need for an ongoing subscription," he noted.

He added that these products are cheaper than traditional ones as they do not demand a monthly fee.

MP Rosie Cooper recently revealed that a new transmitter is to be installed close to the Lancashire town of Skelmersdale after digital TV reception problems.
