Digital 'favoured across Europe'

13 June 2008

More consumers in Europe are choosing to implement digital television services but developments will vary vastly over the coming years, it has been claimed.

ABI Research said that Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) is becoming more popular over the continent but availability differs from place to place, reports vnunet.com.

Senior ABI Analyst Cesar Bachelet noted that there are specific trends occurring across Europe at present.

He told the news source: "Some pay-DTT providers are positioning their service as a kind of 'halfway house' between free-to-air services and other forms of pay TV."

Service providers are making available normal solutions alongside additional channels that are accessible for a price, he added.

And after pay-as-you-go saw success on the Italian marketplace, he asserted, this is something that may be followed up elsewhere sooner rather than later.

In news that may interest those with digital services, Deloitte recently suggested that the form will grow significantly this year.
