A Liberal Democrat MP has launched a petition outlining concerns about digital TV services being offered in the Borders. Michael Moore, MP for Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk, claims viewers in his constituency will miss out on certain channels following the digital switchover. The main transmitter in the Selkirk area and its relays is due to switch to digital on November 6th this year. Mr Moore warns that homes served by the main transmitter will receive a wide range of channels, while those served by relay transmitters will receive a "Freeview Lite" service. His petition urges the government to reassess the likely impact of the switch to digital TV - which he claims will result in a two-tier system - and so far around 2,500 people have signed it. Meanwhile, a report by the public accounts committee has concluded that many consumers are still confused about the digital switchover and the steps they need to take before analogue signals are switched off, despite the government's digital TV campaigns.
