BBC HD programmes are now available to Virgin Media customers on-demand, it has been announced.
The company is the first TV platform to make BBC iPlayer available in full-screen and directly to its customers, with demand for the service already growing.
Rahul Chakkara, BBC Controller of TV Platforms, says: "There's a real appetite for BBC iPlayer on TV screens and the addition of the BBC HD programmes further adds to its appeal."
Since launched on Virgin Media in May last year, there have been 100 million views of BBC iPlayer, with nearly 15 million of these occurring in March alone.
It was revealed last month that the BBC HD channel had become available on iPlayer, enabling people to stream them up to seven days after the initial broadcast.
