West Country urged to prepare for digital TV switchover

7 May 2009

People who live in the West Country are being urged to think about the digital TV switchover, which is due to take place in less than 100 days' time.

Digital UK suggests that nine out of ten households in the region have already taken the measures to convert their main set.

Furthermore, 67% say they have made the changes to all TV sets in their homes.

"We're urging anyone still watching analogue television to check their options and get set for digital," commented Bill Taylor, Digital UK's Regional Manager in the south-west.

He added that there is plenty advice available to people on how to make the switch, which will be happening in Plymouth and parts of Devon and Cornwall on August 12th.

It was revealed by Ofcom earlier this year that over half of the UK's households are now paying for additional TV channels.
