Sky customers will soon be given a better picture quality when the new Sky News HD channel is launched.
It is scheduled to be launched in spring next year after the channel upgrades its production equipment and studios.
"HD is an opportunity to bring our viewers much closer to events, building on one of Sky News' existing strengths," noted Head of Sky News John Ryley.
He deemed it to be an "investment in news" and that it would build upon the existing values of the network.
Viewers will be brought closer to both international and domestic news, the channel revealed, with the HD graphics able to give the picture a 3D appearance.
Earlier this month, Sky called for the country's sports bodies to be able to freely choose a broadcast partner to allow the industry to expand.
