Virgin announces movies-on-demand service

29 June 2009

A partnership between Virgin Media and Universal Pictures is to provide a movies-on-demand subscription service to customers.

Known as PictureBox, the facility will be available to all 3.6 million of Virgin Media's digital TV subscribers for a cost of £5 a month.

"The addition of PictureBox means Virgin Media is the perfect choice for film fans, with a fantastic HD line-up and even more films to choose from, all at great value for money," commented Katharine Burns, executive director of content acquisition at Virgin Media.

Over the coming months, subscribers will be able to watch a number of top films, including the Bourne Ultimatum, Children of Men and the Nutty Professor.

Virgin Media recently broadcast its first TV advertisement for its mobile phone packages.
