Some UK customers may be facing water restrictions after an unusually dry winter.
According to the Independent, many water suppliers are having to consider introducing hosepipe bans as water reservoir levels remain low.
Customers in Sutton and East Surrey are already restricting the use of unattended hosepipes, while at least ten water companies are requesting that their customers consider reducing their water usage if possible.
A spokesman for Water UK, the industry association, said: "They are all thinking about drought and they will all be discussing it in their boardrooms."
"They hope that small changes by customers can do a lot in terms of saving water and that by taking action now they can avoid more severe restrictions later on."
The south-east was hit particularly hard by the dry weather over the winter, and some regions in the country have underground water resources that are less than 50 per cent of their normal capacity.
