Two major water firms have been criticised by industry watchdog Ofwat, for failing to meet targets for reducing leaks.
The regulator reported that Thames Water is losing 915 million litres a day, missing targets for the third year running.
There are also concerns regarding United Utilities, but on the whole there has been a fall in the amount of leakage in the UK water system.
The past ten years have seen leakage levels cut by a third as water suppliers continue to invest and upgrade infrastructure.
It is estimated that £1.3 billion will be spent over the coming years to continue the replacement of failing pipelines.
Don't pay more than you need on everyday things. Switching utility & financial suppliers is easy and saves you money.
