Fuel poverty charity launches DVD

7 June 2006

A leading fuel poverty charity has produced a DVD designed to help vulnerable customers who may not have access to information.

National Energy Action (NEA) have called the production The Heat Is On and has aimed it at consumers who may not use English as their first language.

The charity received funding from the energy supplier npower for the film.

NEA chief executive William Gillis said: "We're delighted that this DVD will give access to energy advice to everyone, including those people whose first language isn't English.

"I hope that community organisations, energy advisers and neighbours will take advantage of the free copyright on this disc to make it available to as many households as possible so that they can keep warm, save money and save energy too."  Elaine Midwinter, from npower, added: "This DVD will ensure that language is no longer a barrier to people accessing this help and advice. We're delighted to have funded such a worthwhile project, which will help to reduce the number of houses that struggle to keep their homes warm.
