21 June 2006

Energy provider npower has announced an impressive line up of figures involved in the energy and environmental sectors who will be taking part in the launch of its Path to Power report.

The company is launching the report, which examines how the UK can go about developing a workable wave and tidal stream energy programme, with the British Wind Energy Association (BWEA).

Speakers will include the minister for energy Malcolm Wicks, as well as the executive director of environmental campaigning group Greenpeace, Stephen Tindale.

Ian Temperton from Climate Change Capital will also be speaking at the launch event, along with representatives from npower and the BWEA.

"This report consists of a series of recommendations which will maximise the economic and environmental opportunities of a successful marine renewables industry in the UK," npower said.

The report will be launched next week, ahead of the publication of the government's energy review, outlining the way forward for meeting the country's energy demands in the future.
