The government has unveiled a series of information resources including a DirectGov online guide to greener living which it hopes will help consumers do their bit to tackle climate change.
The online guide outlines action consumers can take in everyday ways, including saving energy in the home.
"This online guide provides information to help people who want to take action to make an informed choice - not lecture them about what they should do," said Environment Secretary David Miliband.
Mr Miliband said 40% of carbon emissions stem from individuals' actions, including the way they consume energy at home.
The government is also currently working on a 'carbon calculator' which will enable consumers to estimate their carbon footprint.
The moves aim to bring every UK citizen on board towards reducing carbon emissions.
The government, meanwhile, is doing its bit to reduce climate change emissions at its estate of London offices, looking to reduce carbon emissions by 30% by 2020.
